A FEW OF Our Favourite THINGS…..

Vejer is fast becoming the gourmet capital of Andalucia. You can sample everything here from traditional Spanish tapas to contemporary middle-eastern cuisine and all just a short walk away. We can recommend Jardin el Califa, Café Trafalgar, Garimba Sur, Marengo and Corredera 55.

Our teenagers’ favourite beach is El Palmer where surf shops, trendy beach bars and hippy boutiques line the mile long sandy stretch. Good for surfing and body boarding, meeting friends and people watching. At the end of the day, sip a mojito as you watch the spectacular sunset – Bliss!

Our favourite beach is at Bolonia. Surrounded by pine forests and boasting towering sand dunes, it is tranquil and unspoilt. It is also the site of Baelo Claudia, a ruined Roman town featuring an impressive forum, temple and basilica. Restaurant Otero, overlooking the ruins is well worth a visit, but be sure to book first.

For golf fans, the Montenmedio course is a mere 15 minute drive. A stunningly beautiful natural course surrounds a hacienda-style clubhouse. There’s a modern art gallery here too and in February and March, The Montenmedio Riding Centre brings together riders from all over the world for show jumping and dressage events as part of the Sunshine Tour.

Take a drive to El Puerto Santa Maria to take a tour of the Gutierrez Colosia sherry bodega, one of the last remaining family run sherry houses.

Lastly, do visit Jerez to marvel at the famous Andalucian dressage horses at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. The regular horse shows held in the historic indoor arena are indescribably beautiful.
